Colonel (COL) Robert H. Grimminger enlisted in the United States Army in February 1943 and was assigned to the Company A, 1st Battalion, 188th Glider Infantry Regiment, 11th Airborne Division. He was promoted to corporal during his advanced training and served on the front lines as an infantryman with the 11th Airborne in the Pacific Theater.
